وَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānawasالنَّاسُl-nāsuthe mankindاِلَّٓاillābutاُمَّةًummatana communityوَاحِدَةًwāḥidatanoneفَاخْتَلَفُواۜfa-ikh'talafūthen they differedوَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd had (it) not beenكَلِمَةٌkalimatuna wordسَبَقَتْsabaqat(that) precededمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordلَقُضِيَlaquḍiyasurely, it (would) have been judgedبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themف۪يمَاfīmāconcerning whatف۪يهِfīhi[therein]يَخْتَلِفُونَyakhtalifūnathey differThe people were but one nation, and then they differed. Had it not been for a previous command from your Lord, the matter would have been immediately judged between them for what they differed.
