Surah 11 · Verse 8

وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifاَخَّرْنَاakharnāWe delayعَنْهُمُʿanhumufrom themالْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishmentاِلٰٓىilāforاُمَّةٍummatina timeمَعْدُودَةٍmaʿdūdatindeterminedلَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnathey will surely sayمَاmāWhatيَحْبِسُهُۜyaḥbisuhudetains itاَلَاalāNo doubtيَوْمَyawma(On) the Dayيَأْت۪يهِمْyatīhimit comes to themلَيْسَlaysanotمَصْرُوفاًmaṣrūfan(will be) avertedعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themوَحَاقَwaḥāqaand will surroundبِهِمْbihimthemمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)بِه۪bihimock at [it]يَسْتَهْزِؤُ۫نَ۟yastahziūnamock at [it]
