ضَرَبَḍarabaAllah sets forthاللّٰهُl-lahuAllah sets forthمَثَلاًmathalanthe exampleعَبْداًʿabdan(of) a slaveمَمْلُوكاًmamlūkan(who is) ownedلَاlānotيَقْدِرُyaqdiruhe has powerعَلٰىʿalāonشَيْءٍshayinanythingوَمَنْwamanand (one) whomرَزَقْنَاهُrazaqnāhuWe provided himمِنَّاminnāfrom Usرِزْقاًriz'qana provisionحَسَناًḥasanangoodفَهُوَfahuwaso heيُنْفِقُyunfiquspendsمِنْهُmin'hufrom itسِراًّsirransecretlyوَجَهْراًۜwajahranand publiclyهَلْhalCanيَسْتَوُ۫نَۜyastawūnathey be equalاَلْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll praiseلِلّٰهِۜlillahi(is) for AllahبَلْbalNayاَكْثَرُهُمْaktharuhumbut most of themلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknowGod cites the example of a slave who is owned and cannot control anything, against one whom We have provided a good provision which he spends of it secretly and openly. Are they the same? God be praised, but most of them do not know.
