وَاِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenمَسَّكُمُmassakumutouches youالضُّرُّl-ḍuruthe hardshipفِيfīinالْبَحْرِl-baḥrithe seaضَلَّḍallalostمَنْman(are) whoتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou callاِلَّٓاillāexceptاِيَّاهُۚiyyāhuHim AloneفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenنَجّٰيكُمْnajjākumHe delivers youاِلَىilātoالْبَرِّl-barithe landاَعْرَضْتُمْۜaʿraḍtumyou turn awayوَكَانَwakānaAnd isالْاِنْسَانُl-insānumanكَفُوراًkafūranungratefulWhen harm should afflict you at sea, then all those whom you called on besides Him suddenly vanish from you except for Him. So when He saves you to dry land, you turn away. The people are ever ungrateful.
