Surah 2 · Verse 253

تِلْكَtil'kaTheseالرُّسُلُl-rusulu(are) the MessengersفَضَّلْنَاfaḍḍalnāWe (have) preferredبَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahumsome of themعَلٰىʿalāoverبَعْضٍۢbaʿḍinothersمِنْهُمْmin'humAmong themمَنْman(were those with) whomكَلَّمَkallamaspokeاللّٰهُl-lahuAllahوَرَفَعَwarafaʿaand He raisedبَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahumsome of themدَرَجَاتٍۜdarajātin(in) degreesوَاٰتَيْنَاwaātaynāAnd We gaveع۪يسَىʿīsāIsaابْنَib'nasonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamالْبَيِّنَاتِl-bayinātithe clear proofsوَاَيَّدْنَاهُwa-ayyadnāhuand We supported himبِرُوحِbirūḥiwith Spiritالْقُدُسِۜl-qudusi[the] HolyوَلَوْwalawAnd ifشَٓاءَshāa(had) willedاللّٰهُl-lahuAllahمَاmānotاقْتَتَلَiq'tatala(would have) fought each otherالَّذ۪ينَalladhīnathose whoمِنْmin(came) fromبَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter themمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَاmā[what]جَٓاءَتْهُمُjāathumucame to themالْبَيِّنَاتُl-bayinātuthe clear proofsوَلٰكِنِwalākini[And] butاخْتَلَفُواikh'talafūthey differedفَمِنْهُمْfamin'hum[so] of themمَنْman(are some) whoاٰمَنَāmanabelievedوَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand of themمَنْman(are some) whoكَفَرَۜkafaradeniedوَلَوْwalawAnd ifشَٓاءَshāa(had) willedاللّٰهُl-lahuAllahمَاmānotاقْتَتَلُواiq'tatalūthey (would have) fought each otherوَلٰكِنَّwalākinna[and] butاللّٰهَl-lahaAllahيَفْعَلُyafʿaludoesمَاmāwhatيُر۪يدُ۟yurīduHe intends
