وَلَوْwalawAnd ifاَنَّٓاannāWeاَهْلَكْنَاهُمْahlaknāhum(had) destroyed themبِعَذَابٍbiʿadhābinwith a punishmentمِنْminbefore himقَبْلِه۪qablihibefore himلَقَالُواlaqālūsurely they (would) have saidرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordلَوْلَٓاlawlāwhy notاَرْسَلْتَarsaltaYou sentاِلَيْنَاilaynāto usرَسُولاًrasūlana Messengerفَنَتَّبِعَfanattabiʿaso we (could) have followedاٰيَاتِكَāyātikaYour signsمِنْminbeforeقَبْلِqablibeforeاَنْan[that]نَذِلَّnadhillawe were humiliatedوَنَخْزٰىwanakhzāand disgracedIf We had destroyed them with retribution before this, they would have said, "Our Lord, if only You had sent us a messenger so we could follow Your signs before we are humiliated and shamed!"
