Surah 20 · Verse 40

اِذْidhWhenتَمْش۪ٓيtamshīwas goingاُخْتُكَukh'tukayour sisterفَتَقُولُfataqūluand she saidهَلْhalShallاَدُلُّكُمْadullukumI show youعَلٰىʿalā[to]مَنْman(one) whoيَكْفُلُهُۜyakfuluhuwill nurse and rear himفَرَجَعْنَاكَfarajaʿnākaSo We returned youاِلٰٓىilātoاُمِّكَummikayour motherكَيْkaythatتَقَرَّtaqarramay be cooledعَيْنُهَاʿaynuhāher eyesوَلَاwalāand notتَحْزَنَۜtaḥzanashe grievesوَقَتَلْتَwaqataltaAnd you killedنَفْساًnafsana manفَنَجَّيْنَاكَfanajjaynākabut We saved youمِنَminafromالْغَمِّl-ghamithe distressوَفَتَنَّاكَwafatannākaand We tried youفُتُوناً۠futūnan(with) a trialفَلَبِثْتَfalabith'taThen you remainedسِن۪ينَsinīna(some) yearsف۪ٓيfīwithاَهْلِahli(the) peopleمَدْيَنَmadyana(of) MadyanثُمَّthummaThenجِئْتَji'tayou cameعَلٰىʿalāatقَدَرٍqadarinthe decreed (time)يَاyāOمُوسٰىmuwsāāMusa
