قَالَqālaHe saidاِنَّـمَٓاinnamāOnlyاُو۫ت۪يتُهُūtītuhuI have been given itعَلٰىʿalāon (account)عِلْمٍʿil'min(of) knowledgeعِنْد۪يۜʿindīI haveاَوَلَمْawalamDid notيَعْلَمْyaʿlamhe knowاَنَّannathatاللّٰهَl-lahaAllahقَدْqadindeedاَهْلَكَahlakadestroyedمِنْminbefore himقَبْلِه۪qablihibefore himمِنَminaofالْقُرُونِl-qurūnithe generationsمَنْmanwhoهُوَhuwa[they]اَشَدُّashaddu(were) strongerمِنْهُmin'huthan himقُوَّةًquwwatan(in) strengthوَاَكْثَرُwa-aktharuand greaterجَمْعاًۜjamʿan(in) accumulationوَلَاwalāAnd notيُسْـَٔلُyus'aluwill be questionedعَنْʿanaboutذُنُوبِهِمُdhunūbihimutheir sinsالْمُجْرِمُونَl-muj'rimūnathe criminalsHe said, "I have attained all this only because of my own knowledge." Did he not realize that God had annihilated before him generations that were much stronger than he, and greater in riches? The transgressors were not asked about their crimes.
