مَثَلُmathaluExampleمَاmā(of) whatيُنْفِقُونَyunfiqūnathey spendف۪يfīinهٰذِهِhādhihithisالْحَيٰوةِl-ḥayati[the] lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldكَمَثَلِkamathali(is) like (the) exampleر۪يحٍrīḥin(of) a windف۪يهَاfīhāin itصِرٌّṣirrun(is) frostاَصَابَتْaṣābatit struckحَرْثَḥartha(the) harvestقَوْمٍqawmin(of) a peopleظَلَمُٓواẓalamūwho wrongedاَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesفَاَهْلَكَتْهُۜfa-ahlakathuthen destroyed itوَمَاwamāAnd notظَلَمَهُمُẓalamahumu(has) wronged themاللّٰهُl-lahuAllahوَلٰكِنْwalākin[and] butاَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesيَظْلِمُونَyaẓlimūnathey wrongedThe example of what they spend in this world is like a wind in which there is a frost; it afflicts the field of the people who wronged themselves, and thus destroys it. God did not wrong them, but it was themselves that they wronged.
