Surah 4 · Verse 23

حُرِّمَتْḥurrimatForbiddenعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youاُمَّهَاتُكُمْummahātukum(are) your mothersوَبَنَاتُكُمْwabanātukumand your daughtersوَاَخَوَاتُكُمْwa-akhawātukumand your sistersوَعَمَّاتُكُمْwaʿammātukumand your father's sistersوَخَالَاتُكُمْwakhālātukumand your mother's sistersوَبَنَاتُwabanātuand daughtersالْاَخِl-akhi(of) brothersوَبَنَاتُwabanātuand daughtersالْاُخْتِl-ukh'ti(of) sistersوَاُمَّهَاتُكُمُwa-ummahātukumuand (the) mothersالّٰت۪ٓيallātīwhoاَرْضَعْنَكُمْarḍaʿnakumnursed youوَاَخَوَاتُكُمْwa-akhawātukumand your sistersمِنَminafromالرَّضَاعَةِl-raḍāʿatithe nursingوَاُمَّهَاتُwa-ummahātuand mothersنِسَٓائِكُمْnisāikum(of) your wivesوَرَبَٓائِبُكُمُwarabāibukumuand your step daughtersالّٰت۪يallātīwhoف۪يfī(are) inحُجُورِكُمْḥujūrikumyour guardianshipمِنْminofنِسَٓائِكُمُnisāikumuyour womenالّٰت۪يallātīwhomدَخَلْتُمْdakhaltumyou had relationsبِهِنَّۘbihinnawith themفَاِنْfa-inbut ifلَمْlamnotتَكُونُواtakūnūyou hadدَخَلْتُمْdakhaltumrelationsبِهِنَّbihinnawith themفَلَاfalāthen (there is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥasinعَلَيْكُمْۘʿalaykumon youوَحَلَٓائِلُwaḥalāiluAnd wivesاَبْنَٓائِكُمُabnāikumu(of) your sonsالَّذ۪ينَalladhīnathose whoمِنْmin(are) fromاَصْلَابِكُمْۙaṣlābikumyour loinsوَاَنْwa-anand thatتَجْمَعُواtajmaʿūyou gather togetherبَيْنَbayna[between]الْاُخْتَيْنِl-ukh'taynitwo sistersاِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatقَدْqadhasسَلَفَۜsalafapassed beforeاِنَّinnaIndeedاللّٰهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisغَفُوراًghafūranOft-Forgivingرَح۪يماًۙraḥīmanMost-Merciful
