وَمَا wamā And what لَكُمْ lakum for you لَا lā (that) not تُقَاتِلُونَ tuqātilūna you fight ف۪ي fī in سَب۪يلِ sabīli (the) way اللّٰهِ l-lahi (of) Allah وَالْمُسْتَضْعَف۪ينَ wal-mus'taḍʿafīna and (for) those who are weak مِنَ mina among الرِّجَالِ l-rijāli the men وَالنِّسَٓاءِ wal-nisāi and the women وَالْوِلْدَانِ wal-wil'dāni and the children الَّذ۪ينَ alladhīna those who يَقُولُونَ yaqūlūna say رَبَّنَٓا rabbanā Our Lord اَخْرِجْنَا akhrij'nā take us out مِنْ min of هٰذِهِ hādhihi this الْقَرْيَةِ l-qaryati [the] town الظَّالِمِ l-ẓālimi [the] oppressor(s) اَهْلُهَاۚ ahluhā (are) its people وَاجْعَلْ wa-ij'ʿal and appoint لَنَا lanā for us مِنْ min from لَدُنْكَ ladunka Yourself وَلِياًّۚ waliyyan a protector وَاجْعَلْ wa-ij'ʿal and appoint لَنَا lanā for us مِنْ min from لَدُنْكَ ladunka Yourself نَص۪يراًۜ naṣīran a helper
Why do you not fight in the cause of God, when the oppressed amongst the men and women and children say, "Our Lord, bring us out of this town whose people are wicked, and grant us from Yourself a Supporter, and grant us from Yourself a Victor!"
