اِذْidhWhenجَٓاءَتْهُمُjāathumucame to themالرُّسُلُl-rusuluthe Messengersمِنْminfrom before themبَيْنِbaynifrom before themاَيْد۪يهِمْaydīhimfrom before themوَمِنْwaminand fromخَلْفِهِمْkhalfihimbehind themاَلَّاallā(saying) "Do notتَعْبُدُٓواtaʿbudūworshipاِلَّاillāexceptاللّٰهَۜl-lahaAllahقَالُواqālūThey saidلَوْlawIfشَٓاءَshāa(had) willedرَبُّنَاrabbunāour Lordلَاَنْزَلَla-anzalasurely, He (would have) sent downمَلٰٓئِكَةًmalāikatanAngelsفَاِنَّاfa-innāSo indeed, weبِمَٓاbimāin whatاُرْسِلْتُمْur'sil'tumyou have been sentبِه۪bihiwithكَافِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelieversWhen the messengers came to them, publicly and privately: "You shall not serve except God." They said, "Had our Lord willed, He would have sent angels. We are rejecting what you have been sent with."
