بَلْbalNayظَنَنْتُمْẓanantumyou thoughtاَنْanthatلَنْlan(would) neverيَنْقَلِبَyanqalibareturnالرَّسُولُl-rasūluthe Messengerوَالْمُؤْمِنُونَwal-mu'minūnaand the believersاِلٰٓىilātoاَهْل۪يهِمْahlīhimtheir familiesاَبَداًabadaneverوَزُيِّنَwazuyyinathat was made fair-seemingذٰلِكَdhālikathat was made fair-seemingف۪يfīinقُلُوبِكُمْqulūbikumyour heartsوَظَنَنْتُمْwaẓanantumAnd you assumedظَنَّẓannaan assumptionالسَّوْءِۚl-sawievilوَكُنْتُمْwakuntumand you becameقَوْماًqawmana peopleبُوراًbūranruinedAlas, you thought that the messenger and those who acknowledge would not return to their families, and this was deemed pleasant in your hearts, and you thought the worst thoughts; you were a wicked people.
