وَاِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenق۪يلَqīlait is saidلَهُمْlahumto themتَعَالَوْاtaʿālawComeاِلٰىilātoمَٓاmāwhatاَنْزَلَanzalahas (been) revealedاللّٰهُl-lahu(by) Allahوَاِلَىwa-ilāand toالرَّسُولِl-rasūlithe Messengerقَالُواqālūthey saidحَسْبُنَاḥasbunāSufficient for usمَاmā(is) whatوَجَدْنَاwajadnāwe foundعَلَيْهِʿalayhiupon itاٰبَٓاءَنَاۜābāanāour forefathersاَوَلَوْawalawEven thoughكَانَkāna(that)اٰبَٓاؤُ۬هُمْābāuhumtheir forefathersلَاlā(were) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknowingشَيْـٔاًshayananythingوَلَاwalāand notيَهْتَدُونَyahtadūnathey (were) guidedIf they are told, "Come to what God has sent down, and to the messenger;" they say, "We are content with what we found our fathers doing." What if their fathers did not know anything nor were they guided?
