Surah 5 · Verse 18

وَقَالَتِwaqālatiAnd saidالْيَهُودُl-yahūduthe Jewsوَالنَّصَارٰىwal-naṣārāand the ChristiansنَحْنُnaḥnuWe (are)اَبْنَٓاءُabnāu(the) childrenاللّٰهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَاَحِبَّٓاؤُ۬هُۜwa-aḥibbāuhuand His belovedقُلْqulSayفَلِمَfalimaThen whyيُعَذِّبُكُمْyuʿadhibukum(does He) punish youبِذُنُوبِكُمْۜbidhunūbikumfor your sinsبَلْbalNayاَنْتُمْantumyou (are)بَشَرٌbasharunhuman beingsمِمَّنْmimmanfrom among (those)خَلَقَۜkhalaqaHe createdيَغْفِرُyaghfiruHe forgivesلِمَنْliman[for] whomيَشَٓاءُyashāuHe willsوَيُعَذِّبُwayuʿadhibuand punishesمَنْmanwhomيَشَٓاءُۜyashāuHe willsوَلِلّٰهِwalillahiAnd for Allahمُلْكُmul'ku(is the) dominionالسَّمٰوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْاَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَاwamāand whateverبَيْنَهُمَاۘbaynahumā(is) between themوَاِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himالْمَص۪يرُl-maṣīru(is) the final return
