O you prophet, if any of you have divorced the women, then they should be divorced while ensuring that their required interim is fulfilled, and keep count of the interim. You shall reverence God your Lord, and do not evict the women from their homes, nor should they leave, unless they have committed a proven adultery. These are God's limits. Anyone who transgresses God's limits has wronged his person. You never know; perhaps God will make something come out of this.

[65:1] The divorced women cannot be evicted from their homes. This is one of the many verses that protects women from unjust traditions of a misogynistic society. A divorced woman must wait three menstruation periods until she can marry again (2:228). See 2:226-230 and 4:19. Compare this verse to the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 24:1-3.
