Surah 7 · Verse 155

وَاخْتَارَwa-ikh'tāraAnd choseمُوسٰىmūsāMusaقَوْمَهُqawmahu(from) his peopleسَبْع۪ينَsabʿīnaseventyرَجُلاًrajulanmenلِم۪يقَاتِنَاۚlimīqātināfor Our appointmentفَلَمَّٓاfalammāThen whenاَخَذَتْهُمُakhadhathumuseized themالرَّجْفَةُl-rajfatuthe earthquakeقَالَqālahe saidرَبِّrabbiO my LordلَوْlawIfشِئْتَshi'tayou (had) willedاَهْلَكْتَهُمْahlaktahumYou (could) have destroyed themمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeوَاِيَّايَۜwa-iyyāyaand meاَتُهْلِكُنَاatuh'likunāWould You destroy usبِمَاbimāfor whatفَعَلَfaʿaladidالسُّفَـهَٓاءُl-sufahāuthe foolishمِنَّاۚminnāamong usاِنْinNotهِيَhiyait (was)اِلَّاillābutفِتْنَتُكَۜfit'natukaYour trialتُضِلُّtuḍilluYou let go astrayبِهَاbihāby itمَنْmanwhomتَشَٓاءُtashāuYou willوَتَهْد۪يwatahdīand You guideمَنْmanwhomتَشَٓاءُۜtashāuYou willاَنْتَantaYouوَلِيُّنَاwaliyyunā(are) our Protectorفَاغْفِرْfa-igh'firso forgiveلَنَاlanāusوَارْحَمْنَاwa-ir'ḥamnāand have mercy upon usوَاَنْتَwa-antaand Youخَيْرُkhayru(are) Bestالْغَافِر۪ينَl-ghāfirīna(of) Forgivers
