وَلَوْwalawAnd ifاَنَّanna[that]اَهْلَahlapeopleالْقُرٰٓىl-qurā(of) the citiesاٰمَنُواāmanū(had) believedوَاتَّقَوْاwa-ittaqawand feared Allahلَفَتَحْنَاlafataḥnāsurely We (would have) openedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themبَرَكَاتٍbarakātinblessingsمِنَminafromالسَّمَٓاءِl-samāithe heavenوَالْاَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَلٰكِنْwalākinbutكَذَّبُواkadhabūthey deniedفَاَخَذْنَاهُمْfa-akhadhnāhumSo We seized themبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearnIf the people of the towns had only acknowledged and been aware, then We would have opened for them blessings from the sky and the land; but they denied, so We took them for what they used to earn.
